The nineties of the last century witnessed the spread of the virus of democracy throughout the world, as the dissolution of the Soviet Union unleashed the germ of freedom from its head, and the number of democratic countries grew within a decade from 69 to 118 democratic countries.

Suspicious economies have marked most of the major historical transformations, infecting them with the ancient ones, destroying old empires and erecting new ones on their ruins.

When I started researching this book more than two years ago, I wanted to show how the shift from communism to globalization had released evil economic forces from their traps, but as the research progressed and I continued to collect data, conduct interviews and analyze information, I discovered that shady economies are not unique to appreciate what part of history is contested by good and evil.

Although we are consumers, we hardly know a little about these interlocking rings, let alone the hidden economic secrets about what we consume, given that we are stuck in a tight market network of illusions made by commercials. We consumers live in a fantasy world, where we believe our lives are at their best, because we are able to pay for things our parents and grandparents never dreamed of owning. Our planet is mired in massive commercial chaos.

This book does not address the unknown origins of the products we consume, nor the marketing lies propagated by advertisers, nor is it anti-globalization, so much as it aims to provide consumers with more knowledge about the world we live in.

This book thus deals with the reformulation of the modern world by economic forces that do not hesitate to seize any opportunity for profit, as well as the web of political and economic illusions that trap consumers in the imaginary world built by new suspects. The book also deals with the last battles of this eternal war to remind us that it is humanity today, as in the past, that will pay a heavy price.
