Economic readings (32)

Book: Moneymakers: The Secret World of Banknote Printing.

Author: Klaus Binder.

Reading:

Not a day goes by without our hands stretching out these precious paper pieces called banknotes.

Paper money was invented by the Chinese. A thousand years later, American colonists were the first to use them systematically in the Western world, and the fact is that it is difficult to imagine modern life without money, yet how these papers are made is hidden from the general public and even who makes them.

This book highlights the banknote industry and its modus operandi, and also lifts the veil of secrecy imposed on the industry. The only previous attempt to uncover this story was published in 1983 by an American author, but prominent representatives of the industry bought all copies of this book directly from printing presses, to prevent people from being informed of the insides of this field, and it is difficult to find that book today, and now the covert industry is being unveiled.

This book tells the story of a British private print that informed Egyptian intelligence that the machines they were about to buy were Jewish in origin, and belonged to Juri, a mechanics engineer- Gualtero Juri, of Italian-Swiss origin and his system that revolutionized the world of money printing.

There is also the story of the German money printing company Jezeke Und Deverent, which was eliminated during World War II.

Moreover, for the first time, she tells the story of how Bond Sedrokrai, the German federal money press, came to the brink of bankruptcy during its privatization because of the empty noise surrounding itself, the lack of vision and greed.

Today, the strongly secured printing industry is European, but it may not stay like this for longer. It was the European common currency that imposed a strong and profound change on the private secure printing industry, the consequences of which are not known.

For the first time, this book recounts the painful political and technical paths towards a truly common currency, describing how difficult decision-making is in Europe even when it comes to an important issue such as the Common European Currency.

The whole endeavour failed, because everyone wanted to share the advantages of a common currency, but without giving up their national privileges.

This book describes for the first time how the participation of too many paper and printing press suppliers, both governmental and private, has raised the cost of producing new euro papers while reducing their quality.

The book also shows how the dominant and secure government printing presses took advantage of the introduction of the new currency and justified it in building enormous production capacities.

The euro was supposed to enhance competitiveness and efficiency in Europe, not eliminate the money industry.
