Wonderful Economy (Freakonomics)

Book: Wonderful Economy( Freakonomics)

Author: Steven Levitt

Reading:

Economics, as Levitt sees it, is an excellent science for answers, Many people, including a number of his colleagues, may not recognize that Levitt's work is an economics job at all, but he distilled the so-called dismal science to reach his primary goal: to explain how people get what they want.

Unlike most academics, he is not afraid to use personal observations or personal curiosity, nor does he fear stories and tell them either, but he fears calculus. He is a intuitive person.

Levitt's sharp curiosity has proved attractive to thousands of New York Times readers.

What everyone responded to was the power of Levitt's hidden belief: that the modern world, despite the intensity of ambiguity, complexity and deception, was impenetrable and his knowledge was possible.

The aim of this book is to explore the hidden side of everything, which can sometimes be disheartening. Sometimes it may feel like we look at the world through a very small hole. However, the idea is to look at many different situations and examine them in a way that they have rarely examined before.

"I've thought about writing a book about one topic, theory and practice of small applied economy," says the author. Instead, I preferred the method of searching for treasure, this method uses the best analytical tools that economics can offer, but it allows us to follow any strange curiosity that may occur with us.

Thus, the field of the book chosen by the author: Wonderful Economy( Freakonomics)The stories told this book are not covered by Economy 101. But that may change. Since economics is first a toolkit, by interviewing the subject, no subject, however difficult, should be far-fetched.

The author says: "There is no really uniform theme in this book, but if there is no common theme of the wondrous economy, there is at least a common thread going through the daily application of Wonderful Economy( Freakonomics). He has to deal with reasonable thinking about how people behave in the real world. All he needs is a new way of looking, discriminating and measuring, this is not necessarily a difficult task, and does not require high-level thinking".

The author says: "The truth of the matter is that thinking Wonderful Economy( Freakonomics) does not deal with ethics,if morals represent the ideal world, then the economy represents the real world".

The possible result after reading this book is simple: you may find yourself asking many questions, many of these questions will lead to nothing, but some of them will come with interesting and even surprising answers.
