Question

As-salamu `Alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuh (May Allah's Peace, Mercy, and Blessings be upon you!)

I am a female student and my age is 20. A long time ago, I had some obsessions about Islam. I tried to escape them but I could not. I tried to seek refuge from Satan as you say but that did not work either.

Therefore, I decided to search for an explanation for every obsession I have in my mind and here the problem started. Whenever I find an explanation to a doubt, another occupies my mind. I began to search in Christian forums, but what was painful is that much of their talks could not be answered by Muslims. Moreover, in addition to the state of doubt I have, I got angry because others can attack my religion easily and my inability to refute their claims and they seem to be right.

Believe me, I love Islam very much and I do not deny that many times I think that Islam is wrong and is not clear to me but I love it.

I invoked Allah a lot and stayed up at night for worship, why do not I feel comfortable? I read many Hadiths about people who are inflicted by satanic insinuations and I knew that seeking refuge with Allah against Satan is the only solution, but why do I still have these insinuations? I decided to read a lot and search about all things that confuse me but I am still afraid of the result. I know that my words are near to disbelief but I do not mean that, I am only being frank. I am afraid to reach an output against my religion. The last thing I read is the Prophet's denial to infection which is scientifically proven, which I cannot find any explanation to that.

This topic was written by a Christian guy: '(There is) no `Adwa (no contagious disease is conveyed without Allah's permission), nor is there any bad omen (from birds)." And the Hadith of: "Evil omen is in three things: The horse, the woman and the house." This Hadith is authentic and was reported by Al Bukhari, Muslim, and others, and its wordings are as follows: Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "There is no `Adwa (no disease is conveyed from the sick to the healthy without Allah's permission), nor Safar, nor Hama."

These Hadiths confirm that the Prophet (peace be upon him) denied infectious diseases which are transferred from one to another through infection which is a scientific error because it exists and that is the reason of our fear of diseases. I would like to add another proof on the scientific deficiency toward infectious diseases is the polygyny and female slaves in Islam. If a Muslim goes to Jihad and captures a female warrior, he may sleep with her because she will be his slave. However, this will lead to infectious diseases that will be transferred to other wives and children, and if this had been a divine ordinance, Allah would have realized this mistake.

Moreover, the Hadith of the fly denies also infectious diseases. If a fly carries typhoid, it supposes that a Muslim would dip the entire fly into water in order to take the cure because one of its wings contains a disease while the other contains the cure. Moreover, the impure well of "Bida`ah" which the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to go to for drink and ablution, that well was made for garbage: Dead dogs, blood, and so on. However, when the people said that about the well, the Prophet (peace be upon him) replied -as was reported in Sunan Abu Dawud- that water is from Allah and nothing can pollute it. There is a similar story in Sunan Ibn Majah that the well contained a donkey; O Muslim, drink this!

The Christian guy continues: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to suck the tongue of his wives which also indicated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not believe in infection. It means that if we collect these images together: He drinks from water that contained flies and donkeys; wash himself from polluted water; when he felt sick, he would drink the urine of camels; then went to sleep with his wives and the rest of slave girls to infect them. If a Muslim wants to say that there is a scientific miraculousness, it will be in remaining alive after all these teachings.

There are many things that confuse me but I do not know whether I have the right to continue or not. I need someone to guide me to the truth and rescue me from loss because I feel that my faith is decreasing.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, his Companions, and those who follow him until the Day of Recompense. Anyone looks fairly to Islam will see that it is the religion of cleanliness. A Muslim is commanded to clean himself and take a shower during Friday Salah and prior Muslim festivals for he is going to associate with people. A Muslim is prohibited to enter masjids when he eats garlic or onion, and was commanded to clip his nails, use Siwak, do circumcision, besides other manners. However, neglecting that may lead to the invalidation of the acts of worship such as: Not clipping his nails will collect dirt that prevents water to reach his skin.

Furthermore, Islam commanded women to adorn themselves to their husbands according to Allah's saying: "And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable." [Surat Al Baqarah: 228]. Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I love to adorn for my wife as I love that she adorns for me."

The Prophet (peace be upon him) was the cleanest and the kindest of all people as was reported in the Sunnah: He used to raise his hand until his armpit becomes white clean and his leg may be uncovered sometimes and looked very white. He always used Siwak and hated that people smell bad odor from him, and he liked perfume.

Anyone ponders over the Prophet's biography shall know that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is a true Prophet from Allah, and if he does not have any apparent miracle except his pretty biography, it will be enough. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was raised up as an illiterate in an ignorant country and barren land, and he did not come out from his country but twice: Once to the Levant while he was a young boy then came back and the second was to the Levant and did not stay there for a long time. Thereafter, Allah made him control the entire Arabian Peninsula, but his soul had not changed until he died while his armor was mortgaged for barely which he bought for his family. He never spent a night while he has a dinar or dirham in his house and used to eat whatever he finds on the ground.

Furthermore, he used to repair his shoes, sew his garments, and prefer others to himself. The Jews killed one of his virtuous Companions, but he did not harm the Jews for that and paid one hundred camels from his own money for the blood of that Companion while he was in dire need to one camel; that matter would not have been done by a king rather than a poor man. Thus, it seemed clear that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was commanded by his Lord to do so whether that action will financially harm him or not. When he was about to pass away, he had a cousin who was the nearest to him, and he used to love him more than anyone else, but when it came to the rule of Muslims, he preferred others who had more merit and virtue to his own cousin. Moreover, he did not give inheritance to his daughter, wives, or his uncle while they were the most beloved people to his heart and more obedient to him, but the one who ponders over these matters shall realize that they were ordained by Allah and not according to one's own desires and whims. Allah (Glory be to Him) taught him wisdom without a tutor and protected him from the evil of mankind especially the malice of `Amir ibn At-Tufayl, Arbad ibn Juz', Ghawth ibn Al Harth, and others who wanted to kill him; is there a proof after all?

He neither had any desire for the world nor promised his followers to have it, but he told the Ansar [The Supporters] that he would prefer other Muslims to them after his death, however they followed him persistently. His Companions stood when they saw him, but he forbade them and instructed them that standing out of respect should be done only for Allah not for His Servants.

All these prove that he was not seeking worldly benefits, but that was a true prophethood for men of understanding. All Arabs embraced Islam starting from Aws and Khazraj then a tribe after another because of his signs and miracles.

They followed him because they knew about the miracles which were done during his lifetime such as:
• The miracle of the Qur'an,

• splitting the moon,

• asking the Jews to wish death,

• informing them of their disability,

• warning them of unseen matters,

• gushing the water of Tabuk until today,

• gushing of water from among his fingers,

• feeding many people with little food,

• informing people that the sheet of Banu Hashim and Banu `Abdul-Muttalib was torn out,

• informing the people about the places of polytheists' death during the Battle of Badr,

• informing the people about the light of At-Tufayl ibn `Amr Ad-Dawsy's whip,

• the yearn of the tree to him,

•his salvation from the polytheists' blockade to his house,

•going out while casting dust on their heads reciting Ayahs from the Glorious Qur'an,

• then entering the cave without being caught by the Qurayshi,

•the complaint of the camel to him,

•curing the eyes of Ali from conjunctivitis,

• the dipping of Suraqah's horse in sand when he followed him,

• flowing the milk from the ewe which had no milk,

• the glorification of food between his hand,

• the speech of the wolf,

• and his invocation to rain.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was kind in treatment, always smiling, had fun with his family, treated them kindly, spent on them, laughed with his wives, and used to race with `A'ishah, the Mother of the Believers. She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) raced me and I won and that was before I became fat, then I raced him later on and he won after I had become fat, thereupon he said: This time is for the previous one. He used to sit with his wives every night in the house of the wife with whom he would spend the night and had dinner with them sometimes then each one of them would go to her room. He used to enter his home and have a chat with his wives when he offered the `Isha' Salah before he went to sleep.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) passed away after Islam had spread in the entire Arabian Peninsula which contained many cities and villages such as Yemen, Bahrain, Oman, Najd, the mountain of Tay', the tribe of Mudar, Rabi'ah and Quda`ah, At-Ta'if and Makkah who all embraced Islam and built masjids. All these countries and cities embraced Islam and built masjids in which Qur'an was recited and people learnt, studied, and recited Qur'an. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) passed away after he had Muslims united, all of them were forming one nation, one religion, and one word then Abu Bakr ruled Muslims for two years and six months, during which he conquered Persia, Rome, and opened Al Yamamah for Islam.

Many people apostated after the Prophet's death, thereupon Abu Bakr sent them an army to bring them back to Islam, after one year, he won and all people came back to Islam. It was just an insinuation from Satan and Allah put it off instantly. Then Abu Bakr passed away and left `Umar as a ruler who opened Persia, the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, and Egypt for Islam. The establishment of masjids spread all over these cities and countries, copies from the Qur'an were written, reciters recited the Qur'an, and children studied Qur'an here and there.

Thereafter, `Uthman ruled and conquests spread then Muslims opened Andalusia, Sudan, Kabul, Khurasan, Turkey, Slavo, and India for Islam.

Of what we have mentioned, it seems clear that the prophethood of Muhammad is true and his Shari`ah proved and confirmed his prophethood. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the world as many as His creatures, as much as the pleasure of Himself, as the weight of His Throne, and as many as the number of His words for His Guidance to Islam. This is the truth not as the Christians claim that kings embraced Christianity willingly. They lie because the first king converted to Christianity was Constantine who converted to Christianity three hundred years after the ascension of Jesus (peace be upon him), so what is the miracle in that? His mother forced him to convert to Christianity because she was Christian and the daughter of a Christian father. This matter was denied by Christians and he could not show his Christianity until he left Rome to Byzantium (Constantinople) then forced the people to convert to Christianity by sword and bribes. One of his commands was not to give governmental positions except to Christians, which caused the people to convert to Christianity. Constantine died and his son became a ruler, but he converted to heathendom until he died. Thereafter, a man from the relatives of Constantine became a ruler and forced the people to convert to Christianity.

We advise our sister not to surf the sites of Christians and to let that to the people of knowledge because when the people of weak faith listen to these doubts without knowing their refutations, they get affected. There is nothing more sinful than casting doubts into Muslims to think their religion is false.

They did not realize that the Prophet's saying: "There is no `Adwa (no disease is conveyed from the sick to the healthy without Allah's permission), nor Safar, nor Hama." is different from the Prophet's saying: "A sick person should not visit a healthy one." As for the meaning of the Hadith that was reported in Sahih Al Bukhari and Sahih Muslim on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "There is no `Adwa (no disease is conveyed from the sick to the healthy without Allah's permission), nor Safar, nor Hama," the answer is: The rest of the Hadith as was reported in Sahih Al Bukhari and Sahih Muslim is: "A bedouin stood up and said: Then what about my camels? They are like deer on the sand, but when a mangy camel comes and mixes with them, they all get infected with mangy. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Then who conveyed the (mange) disease to the first one?"

The Prophet (peace be upon him) disapproved the conditions of the Pre-Islamic people who thought that infection is confirmed by the nature of disease without referring the matter to the will of Allah. So, the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not negate that infection is because of disease but negated that it happens without the will of Allah. Then he forbade a sick person to visit a healthy one by saying: "A sick person should not visit a healthy one." [Reported by Al Bukhari and Muslim]. Imam Muslim reported on the authority of `Amr ibn Ash-Sharid from his father who said: "There was a leprous man among the delegation of Thaqif, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent to him that we accepted your homage and go back." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Run away from the leprous as you run away from a lion." [Reported by Ahmad].

These Hadiths and others confirm that infection is a cause of disease but according to the will of Allah. Allah may cause this infection to be harmless by other means or a cause to prevent it; this is the meaning of monotheism which is difficult for polytheists to understand.

Ibn Al Qayyim in the book of Muftah Dar As-Sa`adah wamanshur Walayat Al `Ilm wal Iradah 2/273: Monotheism is one of the strongest causes of security from fears, whereas polytheism is one of the greatest reasons of fear, therefore, whoever fears something other than Allah, it will be directed against him because polytheism is the source of fear. However, if a person fears Allah and does not fear anything else, his security and reliance on Allah will be one of the greatest reasons of survival. Likewise, whoever hopes for something from other than Allah shall be deprived of what he hoped for and hoping something from other than Allah will be one of the strongest reasons of deprivation. If a person seeks something from Allah alone, monotheism will be the strongest reasons of winning what a person wished for, or with something of the like, or something more useful for him."

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place." [Reported by Al Bukhari and Muslim on the authority of Sa`d ibn Abu Waqqas].

As for his saying: "Do not enter it," i.e., your residence in the place where there is no plague is more comfortable to your heart, so if infection had been negated by the meaning which evangelists understand, the Prophet would have forbidden them to enter the infected city because the reason is not to get infected, so consider.

The causes of infection are confirmed by Islamic Shari`ah, and not as people think such as the Hadith of: (no `Adwa). It is only a notification to the believers that Allah (may He be Exalted) is the creator of the cause and that He behaves as He likes; there is none can overturn His ruling, and He is not asked about what He does.

So, He nullifies the causes if He wills or keeps them if He wills; not everyone exerts effort shall find the reward, not everyone plants shall reap, and not everyone sells shall obtain gains except with the will of Allah because Allah (may He be Exalted) as commanded us with following the proper means, He told us that Allah (Glory be to Him) is the one who creates the cause. So, He activates or inactivates the power and this is one of the meanings of Allah's Name "Al Muqit [i.e., the supreme nourisher]" which if a person does not know, he does not know Allah and the one who ponders over these Ayahs shall know this: "Then tell Me about the seed that you sow in the ground. * Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? * Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). * (Saying): "We are indeed Mughramûn (i.e. ruined or have lost the money without any profit, or are punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation)! * (Then they said): "Nay! Indeed we are deprived of (the fruits)!" * Then tell Me about the water that you drink. * Is it you who cause it from the rain-clouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? * If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable): why then do you not give thanks (to Allâh)? * Then tell Me about the fire which you kindle. * Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? * We have made it a Reminder (of the Hell-fire in the Hereafter), and an article of use for the travelers (and all the others, in this world). * Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great." [Surat Al Waqi`ah: 63 - 74].

The Prophet (peace be upon him) did not want to deny the effect of causes but wanted to confirm the fate and refer all causes to the first doer (Allah) because if every reason is based on a prior cause, it will be a sequence which is intellectually impossible because it will lead to admitting the oldness of the world. Therefore, the Prophet (peace be upon him) denied that sequence by his saying: "Who did infect the first?" If the first had tested the infection and the one before him was infected as such without an end, sequence will be impossible.

The Bedouin confirmed infection by his saying: "it will be infected," and the meaning is that the cause of the scabies of the first camel was transferred by another without referring the will to Allah which was negated by the Prophet (peace be upon him).

The negation of infection is equal to the negation of intercession in Allah's Saying: "O you who believe! Spend of that with which We have provided for you, before a Day comes when there will be no bargaining, nor friendship, nor intercession. And it is the disbelievers who are the Zâlimûn (wrong-doers)." [Surat Al Baqarah: 254].

So, he negated intercession which polytheists confirmed which is: Interceding before the owner of the right even without the permission of the owner of the right, then affirmed intercession to the Prophet and the believers, but after the permission of Allah (Glory be to Him), so Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission?" [Surat Al Baqarah: 255].

He also says: "and they cannot intercede except for him with whom He is pleased." [Surat Al Anbiya': 28].

He says: "Intercession with Him profits not except for him whom He permits." [Surat Saba': 23].

Imam An-Nawawy said in his commentary on Sahih Muslim (7 /372): "The meaning is negating the false thoughts and creeds of the Pre-Islamic Era which believe that sickness and handicap happen by its own, not because the permission of Allah. As for the Hadith which reads: "A sick person should not visit a healthy one," the Prophet guided his nation to avoid the harm that may take place by the permission of Allah.

So, in the first Hadith he negated the effect of infection by its own but did not negate the harm done by infection after the will of Allah. In the second Hadith the Prophet guided his nation to take precaution in order not to be affected by infectious diseases by the permission of Allah."

Al Hafizh ibn Hajar said in Fathul-Bary:

The meaning of negating infection is that nothing can infect another by its nature without the permission of Allah as the people of the Pre-Islamic Era believed without referring that to Allah. Thereupon, the Prophet (peace be upon him) cancelled their wrong beliefs by eating with the leper to show that Allah is the one who causes sickness and cures, and forbade them to draw near him to show that causes are created by Allah to lead to the effect. So, his forbiddance is confirmation to the existence and effect of causes, whereas his action is a reference that diseases cannot infect by their own, but it is Allah who inactivates its effect, leaving it effectless, but if He wills, it will infect others.

As for what evangelists believe that Muslims used to have sex with newly captured female slaves is a mere lie. The Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded Muslims to be sure of the cleanness of female slaves' wombs. The origin is the Hadith of Abu Sa`id (may Allah be pleased with him) who narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said about the slave females of Awtas: "Do not have sex with a pregnant woman until she gives birth, and do not have sex with an unpregnant until she menstruates." [Reported by Abu Dawud, and Al Hakim graded it as authentic]. The Hadith has a similar example from Ibn `Abbas with the following wordings: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade that a pregnant should not be copulated with until she gives birth or an unpregnant woman until she menstruates." [Reported by Ad-Daraqutny].

Ahmad and Abu Dawud reported about Ruwayfi` ibn Thabit Al Ansary who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said in the Battle of Hunayn: It is not permissible for a person who believes in Allah and in the Last Day to water the plant of others [i.e., to have sex with pregnant women] and it is not permissible for a person who believes in Allah and in the Last Day to have sex with a newly captured female slave until he makes sure that she is not pregnant."

As-San`any said in Subul As-Salam (5 /273):

"The Hadith is a proof that a capturer should make sure that the captured female slave is not pregnant if he wants to have sex with her, and he may be sure of that by waiting until she menstruates or by giving birth if she is pregnant. The same goes for the newly bought female slaves or the female slaves whom were owned by any means. The apparent meaning is: And not an unpregnant woman until she menstruates. Virgin and previously married women are equal in waiting until they menstruate, so it is obligatory to make sure of their cleanness even if the salve is still young; this is the view of the majority."

As for the Hadith of sucking his wives' tongues, they are all incorrect. Al Hafizh ibn Hajar said in Nasb Ar-Rayah fi Takhrij Ahadith Al Hidayah (54/12): Ibn `Ady commented on: "And sucks her tongue," this Hadith is reported by Muhammad ibn Dinar and Sa`d ibn Awas whom Yahya Ibn Ma`in graded as untrustworthy. Ibn Ma`in said also: The narrator who is called "Busra" is untrustworthy. `Abdul-Haq said in Al Ahkam: This Hadith is incorrect because Ibn Dinar and Ibn Aws are not trustworthy and their narrations are not accepted. Ibn Al A`raby said: It was reported to me from Abu Dawud that he said: This Hadith is not authentic. EOF of `Abdul-Haq's speech.

Ibn Al Qattan said that the Hadith has a defect which is a narrator called Musadda`, and added: As-Sa`dy said: Musadda` was deviant [converted to Shiism]. Ibn Al Jawzy said in "Al `Ilal Al Mutanahiyah": Muhammad ibn Dinar, Sa`d ibn Aws, and Musadda` are untrustworthy narrators.

As for the Prophet's saying: "If a fly falls in your drink, dip it then take it out, for one of its wings contain a disease, whereas the other contains a cure," it is reported by Al Bukhari and Muslim, and it is one of the proofs to his prophethood even if polytheists do not like it.

It is well-known that flies bear a large number of viruses and bacteria. In spite of that, the Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded Muslims to dip flies in the pot then drink from it. Moreover, the Prophet (peace be upon him) told his nation that one of the wings of flies contain a poison for these viruses, and that was only recently discovered. So, the Hadith is one of the proofs of his prophethood, and if that evangelist had pondered over a little, he would have accepted Islam after reviewing the reports of non-Muslims in which they confirmed the news which Muhammad (peace be upon him) told 1400 years ago. Allah guided some non-Muslims to prove the truthfulness of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and they decided that flies contain antibiotics which they consider the most efficient antibiotics. By dipping flies into liquids, antibiotics dissolve in water to kill bacteria and viruses; which was confirmed by professor Berfelt one of the Hall University professors. He found that flies carry specific kinds of germs that cause typhoid, dysentery, among other diseases. At the same time, he found out that they carry a type of fungi called "Newsmosqi" which kills all germs that flies excrete from the other wing; moreover flies do not excrete this fungi but after dipping them into water.

As for professor John Bravo from Tokyo university, he said that he shall perform a research about a new medicine which is effective for many diseases and extracted from the outer surface of flies from their bodies and wings.

Scientists of Stanford University said: "It is the first time in the world that we discover in 2007 that flies have a substance that strengthens man immunity system."

Dr. Amin Rida, the professor of bone surgery at Alexandria University, said: I have old references that contain medical descriptions about using flies in treatment. As in modern times, all surgeons who lived in the years that preceded the discovery of sulfa compounds saw with their own eyes the treatment of compound fracture and chronic ulcers by flies which were bred for that purpose. That treatment was based on the discovery of the bacteria-fag virus that kills germs, on the basis that flies carry the same bacteria that cause the disease, as well as Bacteria-fag that attack these germs.

The word "Bacteria-fag" means: "eating bacteria." It is noteworthy that the stoppage of research in the field of curing ulcers by flies was not due to the failure of this therapeutic method, but it was because of the discovery of sulfa compounds which attracted the attention of scientists. All these details were written accurately in the historic part of the PhD of Dr. Aboul-Futouh Mustafa Eid under my supervision about bones inflammations, and which was submitted to the University of Alexandria seven years ago. Modern science has proven that microbiology of bacteria, viruses, and fungi kill each other by secreting toxic substances which are called "antibiotics," such as penicillin, chloromycetin, and other.

As for the Hadith of Anas ibn Malik that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to pass by (have sexual relation with) all his wives in one night, and at that time he had nine wives, Qatadah said: I said to Anas: Could he stand that? He said: "We were told that he was given the power of thirty."

This Hadith is an apparent miraculousness of the Prophet (peace be upon him) by breaking the norms of sexual intercourse despite his little food and drink, the frequent fasting and continual fasting for one or two days, so these norms were broken by him.

It is well known at all reasonable people that man is praised by having strong sexual power, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) is the master of mankind who has all perfect attributes.

We have mentioned in a previous article that the powers of man are three: The power of mind, the power of anger, and the power of lust; these three powers bring about benefits for man. The perfect mental power is embodied in knowledge and faith, the perfect anger power is embodied in courage and forbearing, and the perfect lust power is embodied in chastity.

Because of the perfection of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in the three powers; Allah permitted for him what was not permitted for someone else. It is not a disgrace that prophets have sex with their wives except to the people who adopt monasticism. As for the Prophet (peace be upon him), he used to pass by all his wives in one night because of his sexual power as Prophet Solomon passed by his ninety wives in one night.

However, if the intention is to hint to the matter of polygyny, creation, Shari`ah, and all matters are only in the hands of Allah who permits whatever He wants and prohibits whatever he wants, as He permitted David to marry one hundred wives, Solomon to marry one thousand wives, and His Prophet Muhammad to marry eleven women. Moreover, He permitted polygyny to men not for women for great wisdoms that are not hidden from reasonable people, indicate the perfection of the Shari`ah, show the wisdom of Allah (Glory be to Him), and His Mercy with His Creation and their interests. Of these wisdoms:

When a healthy man practices sex with his wife, he is able to have sex with his wives in this case, but when a woman has sex, her lust abates and does not need to have sex again.

If women are permitted to marry more than one husband, corrupt shall prevail the world, lineages will be lost, husbands will kill one another, the ordeal shall be great, trials shall be intensified, and war will erupt because of women. The tolerant Shari`ah of Islam ordained polygyny for men and that is one of the greatest proofs to the wisdom, mercy, and care of the Lawgiver with His Creation.

Men were given power and lust more than women, therefore they were given a number of wives that is not given to women, and that is one of the qualities that were given to men without women as Allah favored them with prophethood.

Ibn Al Qayyim said in "Zad Al Ma`ad" (vol. 4 / p. 228):

"As for sexual intercourse, his guidance [i.e., the Prophet peace be upon him] was the most perfect, by which health is preserved, lust and self-pleasures are completed, and objectives for which it was ordained are achieved. Therefore, the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to love it and do it with his wives, he said: "It was made loveable to me of your worldly things women and perfume." Furthermore, he exhorted his nation to marry when he said: "Marry women for I shall outnumber the peoples with you."

Ibn Abbas said: The best men of this nation are those who marry more women.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I marry women, I sleep and stay up awake for worship, I fast and I break the fast, so whoever turns away from my Sunnah will not be of my followers." He also said: "O young people, whoever among you can afford marriage; he should do so, for it is more lowering for the gaze and more protecting for private parts, but whoever cannot, he should observe patience, for it is a protection for him." When Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) married a previously married woman, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Had she been a virgin to play with you and you play with her!" He also said: "We do not see a solution for loving mates but marriage." It was reported in Sahih Muslim from the Hadith of `Abdullah ibn `Umar who narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The world is a joy, and the best of its joys is righteous women." The Prophet (peace be upon him) exhorted his nation to marry beautiful virgins who are righteous. It was reported in Sunan An-Nasa'y on the authority of Abu Hurayrah that he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was asked: Who is the best of women? He said: The one who pleases you when you look at her, obey your order, and do not disagree your order in regard of herself and money."

It was reported in Sahih Al Bukhari and Sahih Muslim that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "A woman is married for her money, her lineage, her beauty, and for her religion, so win the woman who is righteous otherwise you will be of the losers." The Prophet (peace be upon him) would have sex with all his wives and then performs complete ablution one time, or perhaps he performs complete ablution at everyone of them. Imam Muslim reported in his Sahih on the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to have sexual intercourse with all his wives then performs one complete ablution."

Abu Dawud reported in his Sunan from Abu Rafi`, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would have sexual intercourse with all his wives in one night and performs ablution at each one of them. I said: O Messenger of Allah, would you perform one complete ablution? He said: This is purer, more purifying, and the best."

The Prophet (peace be upon him) permitted the one who had sexual intercourse with his wife to have another sexual intercourse with her before performing complete ablution by only performing ablution as Imam Muslim reported in his Sahih from the Hadith of Abu Sa`id Al Khudry (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "When one of you have sexual intercourse with his wife then wants to have another time, he may perform ablution."

Complete ablution or ablution after sex refreshes the body, removes the traces of sex, completes purity and cleanliness, and calms down the body as well as achieves the purity and cleanliness that Allah loves.

As for the treatment with the milk and urine of camels as was reported in the Hadith of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the climate of Medina did not suit some people, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered them to follow his shepherd, i.e. his camels, and drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). [Reported by Al Bukhari].

This Hadith is a witness to the lies of the Christians because of the following:

Medicine is a science that is based on trial and error, so the beduoins whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded to drink the milk and urine of camels were cured as was reported in the previous Hadith.

Evangelists omitted part of this Hadith which is talking about their cure and did not mention the rest of the story "So, they followed the shepherd (that is the camels) and drank their milk and urine till their bodies became healthy."

They claimed that Islam exhorts Muslims to abandon means and causes which is contradictory to the previous Hadith in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded them to seek treatment by drinking the milk and urine of camels.

Treatment is not obligatory in Islamic Shari`ah whether by the milk or the urine of camels, therefore whoever seeks cure in anything else may do so, as was reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he permitted the eating of Dabb without eating it. He said: "It is not known in my land, so I find it strange."

Modern science has proved that some diseases are treated by the milk and urine of camels, so the Hadith is a proof against them after it had been one of the proofs to the Messenger's prophethood.

A practical experiment took place in the laps of Al Jazeera University in Sudan about the uses of Al Batanah tribe in East Sudan to the urine of camels in treating some diseases where they used it as a cure for edema, fevers, and wounds.

Dr. Ahmed `Abdullah Muhammadany revealed the details of that practical applied study within a symposium that was held in Al Jazeera University, where the study continued 15 days during which 25 patients were selected, and their stomachs were swollen dramatically before the start of clinical experiment. The experiment started by giving each patient a dosage of camels' urine and milk for fifteen days, and the experiment was amazing. Their stomachs started to get back to normal and all patients subject to the experiment were cured which made an English professor to praise the experiment.

Dr. Ahmad explained that the components found in camel urine as follows: It contains a large amount of potassium, albumin, and magnesium. It is known that dropsy is a shortage of albumin and potassium, where they are found in camel urine.

In one of Dr. Muhammad Murad's studies on "camel in the field of medicine and health" he explained that in ancient times, Arabs used camel milk in treating many diseases such as stomach aches, particularly the stomach and intestines, dropsy, liver diseases, especially jaundice, hepatic fibrosis, asthma, breathlessness, and diabetes.

Avicenna mentioned in the book of "Al Qanun" in medicine which is one of the main sources of ancient medicine: It has become known that camel milk is a useful medicine because it cleans gently. Camel milk is very useful, if a person drinks it instead of water and food, he shall be cured. A group of people was in bad need to try it and when they did, they were cured. The most useful urine is the urine of a powerful and fast camel which is called "An-Najib."

It is strange how evangelists speak about cleanliness while their bible is full of obscene words that harm shyness, shameful stories, incest, explicit prostitution; killing of children, elderly, and women; and shedding the blood of innocent people which left a great effect in the souls of evangelists, and they have tried to direct people away from their differences concerning their lord in the bible.

"Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him." (Numbers 17: 31).

"Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary." So they began with the old men who were in front of the temple." (Ezekiel 6:9).

"Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks." (Psalm 137:9).

"And brought out the people who were there, consigning them to labor with saws and with iron picks and axes. David did this to all the Ammonite towns. Then David and his entire army returned to Jerusalem." (1 Chronicles 20:3).

"The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open." (Hosea 13:16).

"But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and kill them in front of me." (Luke 19:27)

"But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother." (Genesis 38:9).

"During the daytime, while they watch, bring out your belongings packed for exile. Then in the evening, while they are watching, go out like those who go into exile." (Ezekiel 12:4).

"Very well," he said, "I will let you bake your bread over cow dung instead of human excrement." (Ezekiel 4:15)

"But the commander replied, "Was it only to your master and you that my master sent me to say these things, and not to the people sitting on the wall--who, like you, will have to eat their own excrement and drink their own urine?" (Isaiah 36:12)

This is the holy book of the Christians, then they attack Muslims and cast their doubts into them instead of concealing their defects.

The Quran and Sunnah have confirmed the connection between reasons and their causes, however a reason has no effect by its own without the will of Allah and the connection between things and their causes. Whoever recites the Qur'an and ponders over the Sunnah shall know that the denial of causes, powers, and natures is a denial to necessities, a dispraise to reasons and instinct, and a denial to feelings and the Shari`ah. Therefore, Allah made peoples' interests in their livings and Hereafter, reward and punishment, prescribed punishments and penances, commands and forbiddance, and lawful and prohibition all these connected with causes. Moreover, a person himself, his attributes, and actions are causes for what is happening to him, but all things are based on reasons and causes such as Allah's Saying: "because you are teaching the Book, and you are studying it."[Al `Imran: 79]. "for what you used to earn."[Surat Al A`raf: 39]. "That is because of what your hands have sent forth." [Surat Al Hajj: 10]. "it is because of what your hands have earned."[Surat Ash-Shura: 30]. "Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past!"[Surat Al Haqqah: 24]. "An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes)." [Surat An-Naba': 26]. "For the wrong-doing of the Jews, We made unlawful for them certain good foods which had been lawful for them ? and for their hindering many from Allâh's Way; *And their taking of Ribâ (usury) though they were forbidden from taking it and their devouring of men's substance wrongfully (bribery)."[Sunan An-Nisa': 160 - 161]. "Because of their breaking the covenant, and of their rejecting the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allâh, and of their killing the Prophets unjustly, and of their saying: "Our hearts are wrapped (with coverings, i.e. we do not understand what the Messengers say)" to Allah's Saying:"And because of their (Jews) disbelief and uttering against Maryam (Mary peace be upon her) a grave false charge (that she has committed illegal sexual intercourse);"[Surat An-Nisa': 155 - 157]. And His Saying: "So because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them and made their hearts grow hard."[Surat Al Ma'idah: 13]. And His Saying: "And by the Mercy of Allâh, you dealt with them gently."[Surat Al `Imran: 159]. "That was because there came to them their Messengers with clear evidences (proofs and signs) but they disbelieved (in them). So Allâh seized them (with punishment)."[Surat Ghafir: 22]. And Allah's Saying: "That is because they say: "Trading is only like Ribâ (usury)," whereas Allâh has permitted trading and forbidden Ribâ (usury)."[Surat Al Baqarah: 275]. And Allah's Saying: "That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood, while those who believe follow the truth from their Lord."[Surat Muhammad: 3]. And Allah's saying: "And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He seized them with a strong punishment."[Surat Al Haqqah: 10]. And Allah's Saying: "So they denied them both [Mûsâ (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron)], and became of those who were destroyed."[Surat Al Mu'minun: 48]. "But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Mûsâ (Moses)]; so We seized him with a severe punishment."[Surat Al Muzzammil: 16]. "Then they denied him and they killed it. So their Lord destroyed them because of their sin, and made them equal in destruction (i.e. all grades of people, rich and poor, strong and weak, etc.)!"[Surat Ash-Shams: 14] And Allah's Saying: "So when they angered Us, We punished them, and drowned them all. *And We made them a precedent (as a lesson for those coming after them), and an example to later generations."[Surat Az-Zukhruf: 55-56]. And Allah's Saying: "And We send down blessed water (rain) from the sky, then We produce therewith gardens and grain (every kind of harvests) that are reaped."[Surat Qaf: 9]. And Allah's Saying: "Till when they have carried heavy-laden clouds, We drive them to a land that is dead, then We cause water (rain) to descend thereon."[Surat Al A`raf: 57]. And Allah's Saying: "Wherewith Allâh guides all those who seek His Good Pleasure to ways of peace, and He brings them out of darkness by His Will to light and guides them to the Straight Way (Islâmic Monotheism). " [Surat Al Ma'idah: 16]. And Allah's Saying: "Fight against them so that Allâh will punish them by your hands and disgrace them and give you victory over them and heal the breasts of a believing people,"[Surat At-Tawbah: 14]. And Allah's Saying: "And We have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. *That We may produce therewith corn and vegetation, *And gardens of thick growth." [Surat An-Naba': 14 - 16].

Every position in which a Shari`ah ruling was given according to description, that description is the cause for the ruling such as Allah's Saying: "And (as for) the male thief and the female thief, cut off (from the wrist joint) their (right) hands as a recompense for that which they committed, a punishment by way of example from Allâh. And Allâh is All-Powerful, All-Wise."[Surat Al Ma'idah: 38]. And Allah's Saying: "The fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allâh, if you believe in Allâh and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment. (This punishment is for unmarried persons guilty of the above crime, but if married persons commit it (illegal sex), the punishment is to stone them to death, according to Allâh's Law)."[Surat An-Nur: 2]. And Allah's Saying: "And as to those who hold fast to the Book (i.e. act on its teachings) and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), certainly We shall never waste the reward of those who do righteous deeds." [Surat Al A`raf: 170]. And Allah's Saying: "Those who disbelieved and hinder (men) from the Path of Allâh, for them We will add torment to the torment because they used to spread corruption [by disobeying Allâh themselves, as well as ordering others (mankind) to do so]."[Surat An-Nahl: 88].

Every position in which a condition and retribution are mentioned indicates that condition and retribution are the causes such as Allah's Saying: "O you who believe! If you obey and fear Allâh, He will grant you Furqân [(a criterion to judge between right and wrong), or (Makhraj, i.e. a way for you to get out from every difficulty)]."[Surat Al Anfal: 29]. And Allah's Saying: "And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: "If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allâh), I will give you more (of My Blessings); but if you are thankless (i.e. disbelievers), verily My Punishment is indeed severe.""[Surat Ibrahim: 7].

Every position in which a ruling is given and was preceded by the letter "Fa" or any similar letter indicates causation. Every position was mentioned and the letter "Ba" is mentioned as an explanation to something before, it will be considered causation. Every position in which retribution was mentioned explicitly indicates causation. Allah (Glory be to Him) says about Dhul-Qarnayn: "Verily, We established him in the earth, and We gave him the means of everything." [Surat Al Kahf: 84]. Ibn Abbas commented on the Ayah saying: "The means of everything is knowledge." Qatadah, Ibn Zayd, Ibn Jurayj, and Ad-Dahhak said: "Knowledge that leads to the desired goal." Many commentators said: We gave him the knowledge and the help he needed.

As for Allah's Saying: "So, he followed a way." [Surat Al Kahf: 85]. Mujahid said: A means that leads to the desired goals.

Another example is Allah's Saying: "When you (O Messenger Muhammad peace be upon him) are among them, and lead them in As-Salât (the prayer), let one party of them stand up [in Salât (prayer)] with you taking their arms with them."[Surat An-Nisa': 102]. Allah says: "[Yûsuf (Joseph)] said: "For seven consecutive years, you shall sow as usual and that (the harvest) which you reap you shall leave it in the ears, (all) except a little of it which you may eat."[Surat Yusuf: 47].

The Sunnah is full of these examples; the Prophet (peace be upon him) combined two armors, consulted two doctors, treated Sa`d ibn Mu`adh by cauterizing his ankle, and when he set out to At-Ta'if, he could not enter Makkah until he sent to Al Mut`im ibn `Ady who was still an infidel, and said: "I shall enter Makkah under your protection," and he was able to enter Makkah relying on no reason.

However, turning away from causes is a denial for Allah's Wisdom, and seeking cure is one of the causes to which the Lawgiver exhorted. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment." The Prophet (peace be upon him) cauterized Ibn Zurarah, cured many people with Ruqyah, and permitted for his nation to use Ruqyah.

In conclusion: You will not find a book greater than the Qur'an to prove the causes of things. Allah is the Creator of reasons and causes, and it is He who made such and such reason a cause for such and such thing, and He is able to annul these causes and reasons according to His Will and Wisdom as He did with fire when polytheists throw Prophet Abraham in and as He did with water when Moses and his people wanted to cross the sea, and as He commanded the knife to stop slaying Ishmael. All things are in His Hand, so if He wants to keep these causes, He is able to do so, and if He wants to annul the effect of these causes, He is able to do so, but everything runs according to His will.

So, what is the defect in Islam?!
